To all of my creatives and lovers of art out there, NYC has some of the best art museums there is around the city. No matter what you’re looking for, you are sure to find a museum that suits your interest. Although museums admissions can be pricey, there are tricks and hacks to see some amazing art pieces for cheap or even free. You just have to pay attention to the days and times! I have been museum-hopping for most of my time here in NYC, and I would like to share a review of some of both the most popular and low-key museums that are in the city. Not only do these museums have beautiful artwork inside, they also have exceptional views of the city on the outside that’ll leave you in awe. So if you’re ever in New York, check out one, or all, of these amazing museums!

Brooklyn Museum: The Brooklyn Museum is one of my favorite museums that I got to visit. To catch this museum for free you have to visit on the first Saturday of the month from 5-11pm. What makes visiting this museum so fun is the experience of the whole museum overall. There are live performances, music, and food. The Brooklyn Museum currently has a David Bowie exhibit for the lovers of rock music, as well as traditional Egyptian and Asian exhibits.

Whitney Museum of American Art: This museum is located in the neighborhood of Chelsea. It is pay-as-you-wish on Fridays from 7pm-11pm. I would advise you to get there early because there can often be a line. This museum is for all fans of American artwork from abstract to pieces that made a classically bold statement. The MET is home to many popular American artists, so you are likely to recognize a few names on the walls. What makes the Whitney one to see is also the buildings architecture: the building is unique and has beautiful outdoor views that captured stunning views of New York City.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Can I talk about New York City museums without talking about the MET? The MET is honestly a life-changing museum and one of the largest in the world. Visiting this museum is a full-day project because there are so many exhibits in it. I believe there is an exhibit for everyone, from Ancient Egyptian to the latest fashion exhibit, "Heavenly Bodies". Unfortunately, this is the only museum where you need a New Yorker to accompany you so you can get discounted admission. The MET allows pay-as-you-wish on Fridays for residents of New York state, but if you don’t mind the admission price it’s still worth the cost. They also have a rooftop that’s open for museum-goers to see beautiful views of Central Park!

Museum of the Moving Image: This low-key gem is found in the neighborhood of Astoria. What makes this museum so unique is the fact it revolves around photography, movies and technology which will draw in the digital art lovers as well as all of the young digital generation. This museum is free on Fridays from 7 pm to 11 pm. Currently, the museum has a Jim Henson exhibit. If you don’t know who he is, then I'll let you know he’s the creator of the Muppets. This museum has a lot of artifacts of television and movies that you may not realize you want to see, which makes it worth checking out!
